1Password

Read items from 1Password vaults (via CLI). Retrieve secrets and credentials securely.

Details

1Password skill integrates with 1Password CLI to read vault items. Fetch API keys and credentials for use in agent workflows—never store secrets in chat.

When to use

Use when the agent needs to fetch credentials or secrets at runtime. Requires 1Password CLI and auth; use with least-privilege vault access.

How 1Password fits into your OpenClaw setup

Security skills give OpenClaw a defensive role: watching for problems, checking configurations, and handling sensitive material carefully. 1Password is part of this category, and like all security tooling it works best as a standing arrangement rather than a one-off scan.

What working with it looks like

In practice, you decide what 1Password should watch or check, and the assistant reports findings to your channel as they appear. Because alerts arrive in chat, triage starts immediately — ask the assistant for detail, context, or next steps in the same thread where the alert landed.

Installing 1Password

Installation follows the standard ClawHub flow. From your OpenClaw directory, run the install command below, then restart your assistant so the new capability registers. If the skill needs credentials or API access, its README will say so — set those up before the first use.

Then test it. Ask the assistant for something small that exercises the new skill end to end. Skills fail in two ways — not registered, or registered but misconfigured — and a quick first request tells you immediately which situation you are in, if either.

Getting the most out of it

No skill does its best work alone. The assistant routinely chains 1Password with other installed capabilities — gathering context with one skill, acting with another, reporting with a third — without being asked to. That is why it pays to choose skills as a toolkit rather than one at a time: each addition makes the others more capable.

And if you would rather not assemble this yourself, we do it for a living: OpenClaw installation, a skill set chosen and configured around how you work — including 1Password where it fits — and custom skills built where the catalogue stops short.
