Most people who set out to install OpenClaw never finish. Not because it is too hard, but because they start without a plan, hit a snag, step away, and never come back. This guide solves that with a structured two-day schedule.
Start with prerequisites. You need Node.js 18 or later, an Anthropic API key from console.anthropic.com, and a Discord bot token from Discord's developer portal. Block two hours for this. Do not move forward until all three are ready.
This session is about making your assistant real. You have a process running in a terminal — now you need a conversation.
An assistant that can only chat is a slow search engine. Skills are what make it genuinely useful. This session focuses on installing three: a context skill, a calendar skill, and one skill specific to your work.
This is the most important session of the weekend. Everything you have built only matters if it holds up against real tasks.
By this point you have a running OpenClaw instance, a communication channel, installed skills, and direct experience of what your assistant can and cannot do. That is a complete foundation.
A structured two-day plan to go from nothing to a fully working OpenClaw.
